REALLY CREAMY HUMMUS

John Burgess, Santa Rosa Press Democrat

Fall is a special time of year.  Summer is winding down and our circadian clocks are kicking in and yearning for more hearty and deeply flavored foods.  You are paying attention, aren’t you?

Summer is clearly exuberant; Fall however is a more thoughtful and reflective time.  Even in our current covid times, it is imperative to get out, appreciate the cooling air and changing colors of the leaves on trees and in the vineyards.  It’s also a great time to support our farm stands and markets and buy pumpkins, mushrooms, apples, ciders, nuts, citrus, cheese, and anything else that is peaking this time of year.  I think it’s my favorite season and agree with F. Scott Fitzgerald that “Life starts all over again when it gets crisp in the Fall”.

Here are some of my favorite Fall Recipes!

Recipes include:
REALLY CREAMY HUMMUS
WINTER SQUASH SOUP
FREGOLA WITH WILD MUSHROOMS, PANCETTA AND OLIVES
MY GRANDMOTHER’S APPLE CHEESE TART
DUCK BREAST WITH SUN DRIED CHERRY SAUCE
ROASTED BEET, ORANGE, AND ENDIVE SALAD
